PLASTIC & RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGEON

Major Abdominoplasty

This operation is usually carried out under General Anaesthetic in a hospital.

Most of the skin and fatty tissue between the umbilicus and the pubis is removed.

The Umbilicus is re-positioned.

If necessary, the sheath of the abdominal muscles is tightened. Especially when there is a gap due to pregnancy.

The Procedure requires one to make a scar from hip to hip and a second scar around the umbilicus.

The remaining fat pads, previously above the umbilicus can be thinned, but only the deeper layer of fat can be removed.

If the outer layer of fat is disturbed, the overlying skin can die.

Benefits experienced by most patients:

3. Improved ability to exercise, take part in sports and control their weight more effectively.

4. “Cure” of lower backache.

5. “Cure” of rashes in the belly folds.
